Max Schymkowitz Strikes Gold – Twice!

After months out with injury, Max returned to competition in breathtaking fashion at the Flemish U18 Championships in Deinze – winning gold in both triple jump (13.74m) and long jump (6.82m). His first long jump was a personal best and he twice flew past 7 metres (just over the board!), proving he’s back and better than ever.

Deinze, August 15, 2025 – What a comeback! After being sidelined since May with an injury, Max Schymkowitz made a triumphant return to competition at the Flemish Athletics Championships U18 (Scholieren) in Deinze, claiming two gold medals in a single day – and doing it in style.

In the triple jump, Max showed remarkable consistency, landing solid performances round after round, with a winning jump of 13.74m meters– well ahead of the rest of the field.

In the long jump, the excitement began right from the start. Max’s very first attempt was an immediate personal best of 6.82 meters, securing a commanding lead. With the pressure off, Max and his coach, Michel, decided to take aim at the elusive 7-meter barrier. Twice, Max soared beyond it – but both jumps were ruled invalid due to the slimmest of oversteps: “more toe than foot,” as Michel put it with a grin.

Even without a legal 7m jump on the scoreboard, Max’s performance was a clear statement: he’s back, stronger than ever and ready for more.

“It feels incredible to be back after such a long break,” Max said afterwards. “The training, the rehab, the patience – it all paid off today.”

This double gold is not just a victory in competition; it’s a victory over setbacks, proving once again that determination and resilience are the true marks of a champion.
