Lucca claims two Belgian Indoor titles in triple jump & achieves 4th-best Belgian U20 distance of all time.

Last week,Lucca claimed gold at the Belgian National Championships for seniors with a jump of 15.09 meters. “A 10-centimeter improvement on my personal best,” he said. This past weekend, he took gold again—this time at the Belgian U20 Indoor Championships in Ghent—but went even further in distance. “15.38 meters. The fourth-best performance ever by a Belgian junior!!

What explains the leap in results? “Coach Michel and I adjusted my run-up to better take advantage of my speed, and that really made a difference.” He added, “I’m a bit disappointed the season’s already over, because I felt like there was still more in the tank. But now it’s time to rest.”

That rest won’t last forever, though. “My big goal this summer? The European U20 Championships in Finland. I’ve already hit the qualifying mark of 15.28 meters, but for our age group, the qualification window only opens on April 1. That’s a frustrating and an odd rule, especially since for seniors and U23 athletes, the window starts on January 1.”
