Ilona Masson debuts at Diamond League in Brussels
Beyond the Board athlete Ilona Masson took an exciting step in her career this weekend, making her Diamond League debut at the prestigious Memorial Van Damme in Brussels — sharing the runway with Olympic and World champions.

Facing an exceptionally strong field — led by Dominica’s Thea Lafond (Olympic champion, double World Indoor champion, and Commonwealth Games silver medallist), alongside Cuba’s Leyanis Pérez Hernández (Diamond League Final winner, seven-time Diamond League meeting winner, and World Championship bronze medallist) and the USA’s Jasmine Moore (two-time Olympic bronze medallist and Diamond League meeting winner) — Ilona rose to the challenge with confidence.
She delivered a solid 13.79m in the triple jump, showing composure and joy on the international stage. The performance secured her 8th place on the night, a result that not only consolidates her world ranking, but also fuels momentum in the build-up to the Tokyo World Championships.
Reflecting on her debut, Ilona said:
“What an incredible experience! Competing in my very first Diamond League in Brussels, in front of a packed stadium and an exceptional Belgian crowd, is something I will never forget. The triple jump competition was at an extremely high level, surrounded by the world’s best athletes. With a jump of 13.79m, I was able to take 5 attempts and truly enjoy this unique moment. So much gratitude for this experience! One more step forward on the beautiful road to Tokyo 🇯🇵”
This debut marks an important milestone in Ilona’s journey, and we are proud to see her competing among the very best in the world.
